End of Lake George (Day 3 and 4)

Of course with my luck, it rained the third day we were there. So we basically didn't  do anything exciting or too entertaining. My mom and I went shopping, while my brothers played mini golf with Mart (my dad). I bought a nice sweatshirt, a hanging seashell ornament, and sailor bracelets for two of my friends back home.
On day four,  we got up early on in the chilly morning and rented kayaks at the boat house. We were wearing sweatshirts at first, but the day warmed up as we went on. I was in a kayak with my dad, my mom and my younger brother were together and my older brother was by himself. Of course my brothers managed to pick a fight out on the water, and caused my dad to get very angry. He splashed the water with his paddle, and sprayed water all over me. You know, it had to still be the colder morning. We continued on anyway, and traveled around the island. After a few hours we returned the kayaks and headed back to our resort.
The day before, we tried going up a mountain in foggy rain. Which was a BAD  idea. We couldn't see more than 10feet in front of us. We tried going up the same mountain again. We could see an indescribable view. These pictures don't do any justice, but I hope they give you an idea.

My dad had this "great" idea to hike down a trail through the forrest on the way down. We were not expecting to almost fall flat on our faces with every step we took. It was a steep downhill rough path that was a mixture of rock, stone, dried up pine needles and dirt. We all struggled on the way down. Everyone coming up was huffing and puffing like the wolf from "Little Red Riding Hood." Honestly, I would have given up 1/4 the way up. We eventually met my mom at one of the trail's ends with all of us ready to hop into the car.
We stopped in the cute, tourist town for awhile. My brothers decided they wanted to go mini-golfing again! As a result, we grabbed ice cream and headed to the creative mini-golf course. I highly suggest you see this fun course if you're in the area. We played for fun, and my dad messed with the scored along the way. Here's a look at some of the "Around the World" holes!
We grabbed dinner at the Boathouse Restaurant in Bolton. They brought us down from the parking lot on a golf cart! I thought this was so cool! The food was only ok, but the view from the eating platform was lovely. We we're almost in the water! We soon returned to the cabin to pack because we were leaving early the next day (we may have also made some s'mores;)).
We left early the next morning, and the journey home felt long. I loved the 4 days  we spent in Lake George, and I wish we were there longer! I hope My family goes back there next year for a trip because it really is a beautiful place.
I know this was a long post, so thanks for reading thus far. Feel free to leave your thoughts below! See you next post!

Lake George Day 2

This morning we got up early- again. This time we were headed to the woods for a challenge. The place was called Adirondack Extreme and if you're wondering, it's several rope courses up in the trees. We sat through an instructional session and a safety lesson and then climbed our way up. You are always hooked onto a wire, and guides are everywhere. The first course was just to get the hang of things, but the courses get harder as time goes on. My mom made it 1/2 way through the first course (she's not that athletic) and my Dad completed three. To get from one course to the other, you have to zip line down. It was so much fun!  You could take your time, and you has a lot of freedom. I loved tight rope walking and stepping on swinging logs to get across. The courses got more interesting as we went on, and you didn't know what to expect!

Now for the difficult part. My older brother, Tom and I went on the Black course, or the extreme one. We were warned we needed upper body strength, and we both thought we could do it. I was lucky enough to have no one behind me, so I could take my time. I was not expecting to leap long distances from a swinging log to another swinging log. We had to carry ourselves on monkey bars across to another platform. The worst and most draining was a Tarzan swing into a spider-like net, climb up it and then climb across a bunch of these nets to other nets. It was SO tiring. My arms started to give out, and I wanted this just to be over. The last obstacle before the zip line  was random hanging items that you had to leap to from the last. There was rings, logs, and ropes all very far apart. I got stuck. Go figure. My brother was already done with the course. I couldn't grab the hand ring to swing myself across. It took me forever. My family and some strangers kept cheering me on and I'll admit I was kinda embarrassed. I finally made it to the zip line and I was shaking really badly. I would have been less wobbly if I hadn't done 5 courses before this one!
Oh well, I still had an amazing day!

Thank you so much for reading, and feel free to ask/comment anything. I hope you get up into the trees and try it out. It was so entertaining I spent 5 hours in the trees (and maybe a two hour nap afterwards)! Enjoy and see you next blog post!

Lake George Day 1

I woke up this morning, took a shower, and jumped into my car all before 9am. Keep in mind that I have a 5 person car, and 5 people in my family. That means 4 hours in a confined space with my two brothers. Fun. We have to take shifts of who sits in the middle, and I took the 2nd  half of the trip up. It is not fun to sit in-between two teenage boys who feel the need to take up as much space as possible. We almost stopped off at the Saratoga Racetrack, but it was pretty packed, so we skipped out on it.  We then continued on, stopping at a gas station along the way.
We finally got to our resort, and we're staying in a cabin-type of hotel room. We aren't in walking distance of the lakeside or town and as a result we hopped in the car and went to see what we came for and well this is what we saw:
A beautiful clear lake was where we stood. The town is VERY touristy and full of people from everywhere. We ate lunch, walked around, and then headed to a super market (that was far away). We then returned to the resort, some of  my family took a dip in the pool. My brothers were running around causing havoc (as usual). My younger brother, my parent and I went back to the town center to see the night life. It was kind of chilly, so I threw on a sweatshirt. We got Hawaiian Ices which were huge, but delicious!
As for tomorrow, we will be going to a rope course in the woods! I'll check back here tomorrow! If you have read this far, thanks for the attention. See you all next time! Comment if you're feeling it;)
