Frozen Inspired Summer Dress- DIY

Hello everyone! I know, I'm late with my blogpost once again. I just got a new computer (Weeeee!) So expect tons of new  blog posts within the upcoming weeks. A few weeks ago, I went to my local craft store and picked up a tie dye kit for $5. I decided I didn't want to do a normal white t-shirt turned into a technicolor masterpiece. So I picked up a white dress from Target(Here's the dress) and put a new spin on it. I wanted an ombre effect or something similar to it, but wanted it to be original in some way.
Here are the supplies:

  • a Tulip tie Dye kit- or dye with a spray bottle to get the gradient effect
  • a cloth for the ground
  • a white (cotton) dress

Next, you will want to lay out the materials. I used an old Christmas cloth as a base so I wouldn't get my dress muddy! Make sure to lay it very flat, as any creases with leave a white line on your dress after you spray.
Start in the center, around the mid area of the dress. (Don't forget to wear gloves! My hands are still pigmented from when I did this a couple of days ago.)Spray close to the fabric so the color is very rich. A couple of layers of spray will cover the center part nicely.
Work your way outwards, while getting farther away from the fabric and spraying less layers each time to give the dress the gradient feel. The spray should be ombre in two directions- up and down. so that it looks  like it is transitioning from white to blue to white.

This was the final project! Throw a braid in your hair and strap on some sandals. The dress will need to dry, I left my hanging up overnight so that the dye wouldn't rub off. It can't really been seen from this distance, but there are little blue speckles toward the top and bottom. I can't wait to wear this dress and "Let it go" flowing in the wind.

I hope you liked my DIY Elsa dress for summer. It is casual and light weight, and a fun project to do on a warm summer day! Thanks for reading and see you guys very soon!
